During the 2024 European season, six qualifying FAI/SGP events took place, all the events were successful, thanks to pilots and organisers, despite the difficult weather conditions which blighted this summer.

Congratulations to the 12 qualifying pilots who will shortly receive their invitations from FAI/IGC to compete in the 12 th final at St Auban in August 2025!
Coming next for S12 in 2025:
Still to take place are 4 qualifying events in the 12 th series, the next SGP being at Gawler in Australia in January 2025 followed by the USA FAI/SGP in March 2025 to be held at Seminole lake in Florida. These and the two European events in Holland (Terlet) and Poland (Nowy Targ) are already very popular (meaning overbooked) and we are looking forward to some great exciting racing.
The 2025 final at St Auban (Provence Alps, France) will incorporate live on board cameras and live pilot commentary, further developing the possibilities for race fans to enjoy the remarkable experience of racing purely on solar energy.
S13 already in the pipeline:
The FAI Sailplane Grand team are preparing the programme and rules for the 13 th FAI/SGP series which will be held in 2026 culminating in the 13 th final to be held in 2027. The bidding process for qualifying events will take place in 2025 with the final dates for bids being the 30 th of September 2025
The closing date for bids to host the final of the13 th series is the 31 st January 2025, the final will be held in summer 2027 or possibly in December 2027 / January 2028 if held in the southern hemisphere. The earlier bid deadline for the final is to allow longer preparation time for the host to find financial support.
The FAI/SGP final is a unique sporting event with live racing being followed by thousands of sailplane racing fans. Previous FAI/SGP finals over the last 10 years have developed new and exciting ways to showcase sailplane racing at its most exciting.
