SGP of Norway - Race 2 Highlights
Day 2 Recap - Race cancelled
Day 2 of the FAI Sailplane Grand Prix of Norway began with a calm morning, as a layer of clouds covered the task area until late noon. The weather forecast promised dry thermals and some wisps of cloud up to 1800m AGL for the afternoon and early evening, raising hopes for an exciting day of racing.
A task briefing was scheduled for 12:30 at the earliest, but as the day progressed, it became clear that the weather conditions were not improving as expected. The temperature never reached the forecasted 20 degrees, which meant the thermals did not gain the strength and height needed for competition.
After careful consideration, the organizers decided to cancel the competition for the day. While this was disappointing for the pilots and spectators, the decision was made with safety and fair competition in mind. The outlook for the upcoming days was more promising, with better weather conditions expected to provide more exciting racing opportunities.
Day 3 Recap - Race 2

Day 3 brought much better weather conditions, with the sun shining brightly and the heat turning up for the second race of the QSGP at Elverum, Norway. The gliders were gridded, and the launch was set to start at 12:30. The competitors were eager to take on a challenging 257km task, mostly in the valley of Østerdalen to the north of the airfield. The task was to be flown in blue thermals up to 1900m AGL, promising an exciting race.
The start line opened at 14:30, and all competitors took to the air, using their expertise to find good thermals and position themselves for the race start.
