Kelvin vanBaalen wasted no time and leaded at the first opportunity, setting the tone for the race. Kelvin is used to attack early on since the beginning of the event, but still failed to secure points yet.

Splitting into two groups, some pilots opted for ridges, while others pursued the tempting cumulus clouds. Decision-making was the name of the game, with pilots strategically choosing their routes to optimize lift and speed. With the light wind coming from the north, but not giving enough energy to get sufficient lift on the ridges, two options were open to the pilots: get close to the ridges to get a good thermodynamic (a mix of ridge life and thermal lift - often more powerful than a regular thermal), a go straight to the turnpoint via the valley.

Tim Kielstrup Madsen employed a well-thought-out strategy by maintaining a high altitude right from the start. His deliberate approach and accurate execution yielded significant results, as he diverged from the main group to pursue his unique route. It became evident that the Danish pilot was performing an extraordinary flight when he approached turnpoint 2 on his own, leading the race and leaving his rivals impressed. skies were abuzz with chatter as viewers cheered for their favorites and shared insights.
