Back-to-Back Wins for Millenaar as He Secures His Ticket to Chile
14/08/2026 - Farrenberg, Germany - Day 6, Race 5 of the FAI Sailplane Grand Prix of Germany delivered a proper 302 kilometer sprint through the Swabian Alb and the Black Forest. While the day started with tricky blue thermals, developing cumulus clouds over the Black Forest provided the markers needed for an incredibly fast and dynamic race.
Proving his mastery of energy management and high-speed decision-making, Peter Millenaar (MM) executed a dominant final glide to claim his second consecutive victory, officially securing his qualification for the SGP World Final in Chile.
He threaded the needle perfectly on his final glide, crossing the finish band at 1,021 metres QNH, leaving a razor-thin margin of just 21 metres above the mandatory 1000m floor.
The Podium: Hartter and Messmer Push the Pace
While Millenaar ran away in the closing kilometres, the fight for the podium was fierce.
1st Place - Peter Millenaar (MM): Claimed the maximum 10 points with a 137.6 km/h average speed.
2nd Place - Conrad Hartter (OT): Crossing the line just 47 seconds behind the leader, Hartter secured second place in his JS-1. Hartter refused to go quietly, matching the day's best speed on leg four with a remarkable 202.4 km/h.
3rd Place - Ulrich Messmer (LR): Finishing 1 minute and 27 seconds back, Messmer claimed third through sheer efficiency rather than outright speed. He logged the fewest thermals of the top three (18 climbs) and spent an incredibly low 30% of his flight time circling.
The Road to Chile: The Final Showdown
With today's 10-point haul, Peter Millenaar extends his overall championship lead to a dominant 38 points. This insurmountable margin guarantees him a top-two finish in the general classification, officially punching his ticket to the Grand Prix Final in Chile!
However, the war is far from over. The top two pilots qualify for the Final, and the battle for that second spot will be decided tomorrow.
