R1 - Cancelled

After many days of high temperatures in the Pavullo area, the weather is finally changing. A band of rain was approaching and the window for completing a race was narrow. A ‘sniffer’ glider was launched to assess the conditions. The pilot reported that the conditions were turbulent and not soarable. In addition, rain was forecast to reach the Pavullo area by 15:00 not allowing enough time to complete a race.

At 13:30, the decision was made by the Contest Director Brian Spreckley to cancel the race. He said, “A Frontal system is approaching from the north with rain. The conditions to the south are not suitable for competitive flying. Sadly, we have cancelled the race today.’
