Erik Borgmann Wins SGP Gawler

The final race at SGP Gawler saw Geoff Brown secure his second consecutive day win, propelling him to second place overall. However, Erik Borgmann's second-place finish in the race solidified his position at the top of the leaderboard.

The day began with high expectations, but early on, a band of cloud associated with a trough covered the task area, moving away slowly. The challenge was to balance the rising temperature, which could break the inversion, with the gliders' need to leave the Gawler area before a sea breeze set in, making it difficult to climb.

Despite a delayed launch, the first glider took off at 13:45, and soon competitors were soaring at 8,000 feet. The race was on.

Conditions on the course proved excellent, with strong climbs reaching over 10,000 feet (3,000 meters). Geoff Brown completed the 416-kilometer task at an impressive 142 kph, marking a fantastic conclusion to the grand prix.
